Job Description

Reporting to Manager, Student Life and Housing, this position develops and implements strategies to improve the holistic and balanced health and wellbeing of the Student College community. The overall objective is to create a healthy campus environment for all that promotes success by enabling people to increase control over and improve their health and wellness. A collaborative approach will be utilized which engages both internal and external stakeholders. This position will be a contributor and an advocate for a holistic approach in the development and implementation of an institutional Health and Wellness plan.

A primary focus of this position is providing holistic wellness training for students including scheduling, developing, delivering, and evaluating these programs. Utilization of a five-stage conceptual model (Building momentum and support, Planning approach, Implementing, Evaluating and Sustaining) to create a sense of shared responsibility that requires commitment and support from all areas of the college community internally as well as the external community. The programs and training sessions offered will reflect the needs of the college community as identified through institutional surveys, data analysis, and current trends in the Post-Secondary environment. There will also be engagement with external community resources to utilize their expertise and implement existing programs where needed.

The Wellness Promotion Coordinator works collaboratively with other College staff and in particular Student Services staff to optimize students’ opportunities to connect to an integrated network of programs, services and supports that enhance their personal and academic success.
