Expected Salary Range: $72,633.00 - $90,792.00 - $113,490.00

Job Summary:

The Specialist, Asset Protection is an Asset Protection expert, with specialized knowledge of Casino Security and Surveillance practices and operations. This role is responsible for continuously evaluating and assessing alignment of Casino Security and Surveillance practices with BCLC's standards and expectations. The Specialist, Asset Protection is responsible for conducting ongoing monitoring and testing of asset protection controls and safeguards through data analytics and live inspections to identify non-compliance, operational risk, and opportunities for operational improvement.
This role is also responsible for building and fostering reciprocal relationships with stakeholders through effective communication and collaboration.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Applies specialized knowledge, advice, and support of Corporate Security & Asset Protection across various projects and initiatives for all BCLC business lines and products.
  • Conducts comprehensive data compilation, analysis, incident reports, and presentation to discern evolving security and integrity risks.
  • Ensures accuracy of data and timeliness of reporting that supports internal and external stakeholder requirements.
  • Compiles and presents information and deliverables for dissemination to Management and Stakeholders, that provide in depth findings and opportunities to address exposure and/or risks to BCLC business, specifically our casino channel.
  • Conducts thorough reviews, and specialized monitoring and testing of security and surveillance functions through data analysis and live inspections to assess operational sufficiency and compliance with the BCLC Services Manual.
  • Maintains awareness of emerging industry risks, best practices, lessons learned, emerging technologies, and solutions to a broader group, to support and advise on corporate and departmental plans and decisions.
  • Contributes to large corporate projects monitoring Service Providers' efforts addressing compliance and risk exposure. Analyzes solutions, processes, and infrastructure to validate corrective safeguard and control practices.
  • Engages in continuous monitoring of mitigation strategies and projects, helping to ensure the attainment of defined objectives.
  • Maintains a company-wide education program related to security and surveillance. Plans, coordinates, develops, and delivers training sessions for BCLC and Service Provider employees to facilitate knowledge transfer on BCLC Standards and requirements.
  • Represents BCLC interests and maximizes value in interactions and strategic relationships with external stakeholders and partners.
Minimum Required Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • A Bachelor's degree in risk management, security management, business, criminology, social sciences, or related discipline.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in corporate security, risk management, investigations or compliance;
  • Project management experience and experience with risk/threat assessment methods and procedures is required;
  • Experience in Casino Security and Surveillance leadership would be an asset;
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
Technical Requirements
  • Comprehensive knowledge of BCLC Operating Standards, surveillance standards, security & surveillance principles, casino games, and regulatory guidelines;
  • Demonstrated ability to devise and implement continuous improvement initiatives to deliver quality and performance improvement benefits to established and new services;
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, adapt well to changing priorities to meet deadlines and work on various initiatives concurrently;
  • Critical thinking skills needed to investigate and resolve issues;
  • Strong sense of urgency with the ability to multi-task, take initiative and follow-through;
  • Ability to manage and execute through influence, make sound decisions, and exhibit initiative and intuitive thinking;
  • Developed business acumen;
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical thinking skills in addressing complex technical challenges;
  • Strong technical writing skills, and able to write reports and document procedures;
  • Strong verbal communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, facilitating clear collaboration within cross-functional team;
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.;
  • Understanding of Agile methodology or experience working with a cross-functional team environment would be an asset;
  • Understanding of B.C. gaming industry would be an asset.
Working Conditions
  • Travel throughout the Province of BC to conduct site assessments in all casinos and community gaming centers; role is approximately 20% travel;
  • Work evenings and weekends;
  • Have a valid driver's license and use of a personal vehicle.
