KPMG's Forensic and Financial Crimes professionals help clients identify risks that could expose their organization to money laundering, terrorist financing as well as corruption and other legal, reputational risks. We work with clients to identify, manage and mitigate their risk exposures in line with legislative requirements and industry best practices. We also conduct investigative research and support due diligence work as well as investigations when called upon.

KPMG's Forensic and Financial Crimes professionals help clients identify risks that could expose their organization to money laundering, terrorist financing as well as corruption and other legal, reputational risks. We work with clients to identify, manage and mitigate their risk exposures in line with legislative requirements and industry best practices. We also conduct investigative research and support due diligence work as well as investigations when called upon.
What you will do
- Assist a variety of financial institutions in addressing financial crimes (with a focus on Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Compliance), and global sanctions projects across all three lines of defense
- Help Financial Crimes leaders (AML, Fraud, and Sanctions) in the financial services industry with analytical and technology-related projects and support
- Conduct data analytics to test and validate financial crime systems using SQL, Python, R, and other programming languages
- Perform statistical analysis on testing samples, interpret results, and summarize findings effectively.
- Implement and utilize advanced analytical tools and methodologies to enhance the detection and reporting of financial crimes risk (AML/ATF/Sanction/Fraud)
- Support clients with technical risk and control reviews, ensuring compliance projects are executed with precision and in accordance with the latest regulatory requirements and expectations
- Support Financial Crimes model validation & testing engagements following model risk management regulatory guidance
- Provide support for financial services or financial crimes compliance initiatives at the direction of the national financial crimes
- Drive the development and implementation of innovative compliance solutions that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of an institution's financial crime prevention efforts, setting a high standard for compliance excellence
- Aid management in identifying, escalating, and managing engagement risk on behalf of internal and external stakeholders
- Act as a solution leader in the financial crimes space
- Manage part(s) of an engagement, supervise staff level engagement teams, and provide direction and training to associates
- Deliver input into engagement decisions such as work plans, timelines, budgets, project management, and resource allocation
- Maintain an awareness of current marketplace issues and stay up to date with emerging regulatory requirements and guidance
- Engage in projects to enhance compliance programs, leveraging data analytics and advanced technologies to mitigate risk and improve processes
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of financial crimes experience (such as AML/Sanctions/Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC)/Anti-Fraud) supporting compliance functions in the financial or professional services industries and/or with relevant banking/securities regulatory agencies
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, finance, accounting, economics, English literature, engineering, data science, computer science, information systems, statistics, math or a related quantitative field of study
- MS, MBA or JD from an accredited college or university and/or CAMS Certification, FIBA AMLCA Certification, or similar certification such as Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) preferred
- Solid understanding of common money laundering schemes as well as the AML and sanctions legal and regulatory environment, specifically the laws, regulations, and guidance promulgated under FINTRAC, and other global regulatory bodies is preferred
- Application and package experience in any of the following: Transaction Monitoring Vendor Solutions, KYC Vendor Solutions, and OFAC sanctions screening solutions Skilled in analytical research, statistical sampling, and technical skills
- Solid experience with data analysis or database packages such as SQL, R, Python, or similar technologies
- Proven experience examining, assessing, and/or enhancing aspects of a financial crimes Compliance program (for example, performing internal audits or compliance testing reviews, remediating identified deficiencies) preferred
- Strong involvement with vendor solutions, including KYC, Transaction Monitoring and Sanctions Screening
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to meet the needs of the team and business
- Experience in performing auditing, testing or quality assurance of AML and/or Sanctions controls and processes
- Excellent writing abilities across various deliverable formats including reports and presentations as well strong experience in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint
