KPMG's market-leading Global Infrastructure Advisory practice is growing and is looking for an individual who is interested in a Senior consultant role in Indigenous Advisory Services based in our Vancouver office.
The successful candidate will assist in the delivery of high-quality services to public sector and private sector clients. Working in a team, the consultant will advise on projects with Indigenous Peoples for governments (Indigenous, federal, provincial, and municipal) and the private sector, across a wide range of markets including natural resources, energy, utilities, transportation, agri-food, manufacturing, real estate, education, healthcare, and other service sectors.

As a Senior consultant within the Indigenous Advisory Services you are responsible for assisting senior colleagues with helping public and private sector clients. The position requires sensible consideration, technical expertise, Indigenous BC knowledge and understanding, critical thinking, verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with other stakeholders and rightsholders.

KPMG BC Region Pay Range Information
The expected base salary range for this position is $63,500 to $99,500 and may be eligible for bonus awards. The determination of an applicant's base salary within this range is based on the individual's location, skills & competencies, and unique qualifications. What you will do
- Assist in building and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with Indigenous communities.
- Assisting on major projects for public (federal, provincial, municipal, Indigenous government) and private sector (e.g., critical infrastructure asset owners) clients across a wide variety of industries and sectors.
- Prepare and distribute reports and proposals
- Prepare proposals for RFP submissions.
- Perform research, data gathering and analysis.
- Assist with the development and review of engagement reports and technical project reviews.
- Assist in preparing strategic plans, business plans and business cases.
- Contribute to a dedicated team of professionals in delivering advisory services to clients.
- Experience working directly in or with Indigenous communities in BC.
- Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous Culture, Governance, Treaties and Rights, Reconciliation and Indigenous History in BC and Canada.
- Excellent project management, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills that incorporates Indigenous knowledge and studies to meet community and client needs.
- Ability to work respectfully with Indigenous communities and Elders to build mutually respectful relationships and partnerships.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Undergraduate or graduate degree (or technical diploma) in business, architecture, engineering, finance, economics, engineering, planning, Indigenous studies / governance or similar area
- Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous rights, UNDRIP, regional histories, cultural protocols as they relate to current issues in industrial and resource development and reconciliation.
- Experience in planning and facilitating Indigenous engagements in collaboration with First Nations and Indigenous organizations
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
- A team-oriented attitude, and ability to work independently and as part of an integrated team
- Proven capability of working within a multi-disciplinary team
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to communicate and engage with diverse groups
- Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Flexibility to manage multiple assignments and competing priorities
- Strong quantitative and computer skills
- Ability to travel within Canada and abroad, as necessary.
Preference given to those with:
- 3-5 years or (1-2 years for Consultant) of industry experience in a relevant industry (e.g. government, engineering, construction, real estate, utilities); and/or
- Demonstrated skills and experience in one or more of the following:
- Community engagement
- Infrastructure project planning, procurement or delivery
- economic and financial analysis
- leading and facilitating meetings/workshops operational and business improvement
- lifecycle asset management
- data analytics, business intelligence and GIS
