Position Summary
Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at the Bulkley Lodge.

Assists in the provision of service for the Northern Health Infection Prevention and Control Program for acute and continuing care facilities by developing education materials and implementing transmission precaution strategies and the surveillance, investigation and reporting of Nosocomial (healthcare acquired) infections, in order to minimize risk of infection to patients/resident/clients, staff and visitors. This position will promote continuous quality improvement methodology and epidemiological principles to carry out the functions of the service and this will be done within a fiscally responsible environment. This position reports to the Regional Manager Infection Prevention and Control.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Monday to Friday, Days, 08:00 to 16:00

Bulkley Lodge is a stand-alone, long-term care home located in central Smithers, approximately five minutes from Bulkley Valley District Hospital. There are 53 beds including two respite beds plus three short stay beds. Bulkley Lodge provides daily therapeutic recreation services. Pastoral and spiritual services are provided by the Smithers Ministerial Group with regular, on-site spiritual care. There is a volunteer program in place to facilitate resident participation in social activities and outings. There is also an on-site, integrated community Adult Day Program, operating 7 days a week.

Smithers Smithers is located in the picturesque Bulkley Valley surrounded by three mountain ranges which provide a backdrop for the town's Alpine setting. The main industries include forestry, tourism, transportation and agriculture. Smithers offers affordable housing and natural splendor that support a balanced lifestyle. The population of Smithers is approximately 6,000, with an additional 5,000 from the surrounding communities that access services. There are three elementary schools, one secondary school, one alternate format school for grades 9-12 and Coast Mountain College. Qualfications
• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
• Three years' recent clinical experience
• Completion of a Community and Hospital Infection Control Association - Canada (CHICA-Canada) Infection Prevention approved course.

• Assessment and Intervention - Demonstrated ability to complete initial and ongoing client assessments (clinical and diagnostic reasoning) and provide care through appropriate/ prescribed technical, therapeutic, safety type interventions.
• Ability to operate related equipment including proven ability to utilize computer technology.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
