Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Radiological Technologist to join the Computed Tomography team at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, BC. Apply today to join our team!

As a Radiological Technologist 3 with VCH you will:

  • Perform computed tomography (CT) procedures and diagnostic/therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures in accordance with departmental policy and procedures observing safe radiation protection practices.
  • Performs duties including;
    • receiving and completing requisitions,
    • entering relevant data into the Radiology information system,
    • preparing examination trays and patients for specific procedures including the preparation,
    • dispensing and administration of radiopharmaceuticals,
    • operating CT imaging and/or nuclear medicine equipment including processing and archiving of acquired data.
  • Monitor the patient during the procedures including equipment performance and performs routine quality control test on imaging equipment.
  • Monitor area utilizing appropriate detection equipment and disposes of radioactive substances and/or contaminated items as per established guidelines.
Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Certification with the CAMRT (Nuclear Medicine).
  • Completion of a recognized advanced specialty CT program and one (1) year recent, related CT and nuclear medicine experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Completion of an Intravenous Therapy training course, as required by site practice.
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification - Basic Life Support (BCLS) level.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging practitioners established by the CAMRT and/or other relevant national professional associations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of organization policies, procedures and standards of care including practice of safe work procedures with applicable modality equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform radioisotope examinations in compliance with departmental standards.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission Regulations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current General Radiography, Nuclear Medicine and CT theory and practices within a patient/family centred model of care.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with radiology equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of research process and methodology.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PACS/Radiology Information Systems, i.e. digital imaging, image archiving and retrieval.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) and deal effectively with patients and their families, coworkers, physicians, other health care staff and external staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated skill in CT/Nuclear Medicine techniques and the use of applicable equipment and supplies.
  • Demonstrated ability in CPR techniques.
  • Ability to operate related equipment including applicable software applications.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
