Radiation Oncologist

BC Cancer - Kelowna, BC

Regular, Full-time

BC Cancer - Kelowna is seeking a permanent radiation oncologist to join our staff of 18 radiation oncologists, 2 general practitioners in oncology and 2 nurse practitioners. We are a full-service academic cancer center serving the Southern Interior Region of British Columbia, as part of the provincial Radiation Therapy program at BC Cancer.

BC Cancer - Kelowna has 5 linear accelerators, including 2 Varian EDGE units with high resolution multi-leaf collimation and 6 degrees of freedom couch, and one Varian ETHOS unit for adaptive radiotherapy, one orthovoltage unit, 2 CT simulators, and a diagnostic CT-PET. Our Brachytherapy Program is known internationally for work in prostate, breast and gynecologic malignancy and development of new techniques and applicators. Our Stereotactic Program offers treatment for all sites, including liver and spine.

Our department has an active academic program; and a successful applicant will be expected to deliver excellent patient care, be involved in teaching, and participate in clinical research. The successful applicant will have a clinical appointment at UBC Faculty of Medicine, Department of Surgery, Division of Radiation Oncology, and will have privileges through both the Provincial Health Services Authority, and our partner health authority at the Kelowna General Hospital.

Applicants must be eligible for licensure in British Columbia and have obtained a Fellowship in Radiation Oncology from the RCPSC or an equivalent by the time of appointment. The applicant must also meet the requirements for appointment to medical staff of BC Cancer and Kelowna General Hospital. Canadian Immigration regulations accord preference to Canadian citizens and landed immigrants.

Kelowna is a vibrant mid-sized city in the southern interior region of British Columbia, surrounded by lakes, mountains, and vineyards. Situated in the heart of the Okanagan Valley, Kelowna is also known for dry sunny summers and mild winters with fresh powder snow in the mountains. It is one of the few places where one can ski and golf in the same day. Kelowna also is home to UBC Okanagan, an international airport, and is a growing hub for technology and aerospace companies. Altogether, Kelowna's natural environment, developed facilities and infrastructure, and its strong sense of community bolsters its reputation as a tourist destination and a great place to live.
