Job Description

Job Title: Planer Technician / Planer Operator

Employer: Well established, fully automated Planermill in the Chilliwack area

Products Produced: Standard dimension cedar products for local, national and US export markets.

Job Opportunity: Planer Operator. Permanent, full time, hourly.

Skills Required: Daily duties of this position include planer tooling preparation, machine setup and full operation.

Required Experience: To fully qualify for this position you MUST have at least 2-3 years of experience running a high speed planer running standard lumber profiles. Experience on a Stetson Ross, Yates, Woods, Coastal or similar, is ideal.

Optional skills and experience: Some basic maintenance skills are ideal to help keep the plant running. When not actively working on the planer this position may also be assigned to run a thorough-feed moulder as required to meet production requirements.

Compensation: Pay levels are set according to our existing wage hierarchy, adjusted annually. Hourly wage levels are very competitive on the coast.

Work Environment: This is a well established planermill in the lower mainland with a well equipped plant and well cared for production machinery. Fully staffed and properly equipped Maintenance Dept.

We offer steady hours and secure employment despite recent issues being experienced by other operations in this sector of the wood industry over the last few months.
