BC Women's Hospital & Health Centre (BCW) is the only facility in British Columbia devoted primarily to the health of women, newborns and families. It provides a broad range of specialized women's health services that address the health needs of women of all ages and backgrounds. BC Women's is one of the largest maternity facilities in Canada, with over 7,000 births a year, and is both the major primary and secondary maternity services provider in the Lower Mainland and the cornerstone of the provincial tertiary care system.
As an academic health centre BCW's mandate includes providing strong leadership in research and the education and professional development of health care professionals in areas related to the health of the populations we serve.
You are committed to your clinical practice and strive to provide the highest level of care possible to women. A strong communicator and facilitator, you have an enthusiasm for teaching and research. You lead by example by providing support and developing strong working relationships through interprofessional collaboration.
Specific Accountabilities
Qualifications
You will have advanced training and experience in family planning, and abortion services including advanced surgical skills. You are member of, or eligible for membership with the Royal College of Surgeons. Leadership and/or administrative experience would be highly beneficial. The ideal candidate will have or be eligible for a faculty appointment at the University of British Columbia. Become one of our recognized clinical leaders and excel in this rewarding clinical and innovative role. The successful candidate will be eligible for Gynecology OR privileges at BCWH.

Specific Accountabilities
- Agree to maintain active Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS) and provide proof of active certification
- Participate in the teaching and research programs at BCWH's CARE program. This includes but is not limited to the following:
- Teaching medical students
- Participating in the UBC OB Gyn Residency Program
- Presenting cases or teaching at grand rounds or staff meetings
- Participating in research project (either as principal investigator or collaborator)
- Presenting at clinical or research meetings on behalf of the BCWH's CARE Program
- Agree to attend 75% of BCWH's CARE Program staff meetings and participate in the quality assurance program at BCWH
- Agree to after clinical hours (M-F 1600-800, Sat and Sun) on call telephone support for BCWH's CARE Program specific patient inquiries for one week at a time. On-call weeks will be evenly distributed among clinic physicians.
- Agree to confirm BCWH's CARE Program assigned clinic shift schedule no later than 2 weeks from schedule release and arrange coverage of any assigned shift after this two week confirmation period has passed
