Contract opportunity with one of North Vancouver’s most well-established and stable companies. There is a permanent role available for which the contractor can get consideration.

Who- the Company:
Our client has many decades of history in British Columbia and has grown to become one of the largest companies based in North Vancouver. The company is a very stable organization with diversified operations.

What- the Role:
On behalf of our client, SWIM is seeking a new Pension and Benefits Administrator.  The Administrator will look after pension, retirement, and benefit plans, including enrolling/terminating/changing/reconciling employee records. The Administrator will liaise internally with the broader HR and Payroll team, as well as with employees to answer their questions and externally with vendors. The team uses an ERP-based payroll system, Excel, and various other systems. This is a 1.5 month contract to start, with a good chance for extensions. There is a permanent full-time role open, so the contractor can apply if they are interested and interview internally for that opportunity.
SWIM will provide interested and qualified candidates with a thorough job description.

Who- the Candidate:
We are seeking candidates with at least 3 years’ and ideally 5+ years of relevant experience working in a Payroll, HR, or Finance department and specializing in benefits and pension administration. Experience with a large company (1000+ employees, with multiple/different benefits plans and pension plans) is highly preferred. Relevant post-secondary education is very beneficial, such as an HR degree or diploma, or the CEVS (Certified Employee Benefits Specialist) certification. Qualified candidates will have knowledge of Canadian and BC regulations regarding pensions, such as Pension Benefits Standards Act 1985, Pension Benefits Standard Act 2012. Experience working in a unionized environment is a plus. We are looking for people who are computer savvy, with intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel, and experience using large HR and payroll systems. Preference for candidates who live in North Vancouver or nearby.

Where:
Headquartered in North Vancouver. Hybrid schedule- please discuss further with SWIM.

How Much:
During the contract portion, this role will pay an hourly rate plus 4% vacation pay- the exact hourly rate will depend on years and relevance of work experience and qualifications, ranging from $30 to $44.
If/when the contractor converts to permanent, please note that this company provides a robust total compensation package including a pension matching plan, excellent health, dental & vision benefits, and health & wellness perks such as paid gym memberships.  The full range on the base salary, if/when converted to permanent, is $70,000 to $94,000.
