The Manager, Clinical Services, reports directly to the Senior Director, Regional Clinical Operations, and is responsible for the effective and efficient management of designated clinical services at a regional Cancer Centre. Responsibilities include managing and directing staff, budget development and oversight, and implementation of operational plans. The Manager is responsible for providing leadership and direction for the management, utilization and risk management, and quality improvement for clinical operations in the Cancer Centre. The Manager provides leadership and promotes the philosophy and goals of the organization by applying and evaluating standards, policies, practices, and procedures to the assigned areas; empowering team thinking and innovation; and creates and promotes a practice environment that is focused on evidence-based improvements to patient-centred care that supports opportunities for research, learning and teaching for students and staff. The Manager models joint decision-making and alignment in goals and objectives, and ensures the provision of an inter-professional work environment and care through the maintenance of working relationships and liaison with medical, nursing, administrative and other regional and provincial leadership positions.

Job Type: Regular, Full-Time
Salary Range: $106,026 - $152,413 /year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate's relevant education and experience and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.

What you'll do
- Develop strategic priorities and coordinates operational planning and implementation for the Cancer Centre in conjunction with the practice leaders and Senior Director, Regional Clinical Operations. Collaborate with regional and provincial based colleagues including medical and operational leaders in support patient-focused and integrated care. Ensure consistent and aligned messaging by Centre leadership, and communicates PHSA and BCCA vision, values and strategic direction and ensures integration into practice by interdisciplinary team members.
- Provide overall leadership and direction for team members using effective management techniques (e.g., coaching, mentoring, skill and leadership development, decision making, coalition building and performance management) that support the achievement of required outcomes. Manage and supervise staff.
- Manage service area operations by coordinating and establishing priorities, assessing and monitoring staffing requirements and supplies.
- Define an effective workforce plan in collaboration with key partners and stakeholders that ensures the availability of adequate & appropriate staff according to operational demands and environmental and resource constraints.
- Develop effective and efficient practices and processes to measure the use of resources and quality of care. Prepare an operating budget, monitors variances and uses best practice methods in reporting, monitoring and managing allocated budget. Coordinate contract management as required.
- Lead, in collaboration with physicians & professional practice leaders, the identification of evidence based outcomes, the development of quality indicators and care pathways, ensures compliance with accreditation standards, and coordinates or participates in quality improvement activities (including imPROVE).
- Provide leadership to staff through collaborative coaching, guiding and modeling key behaviors and strategies, encouraging dialogue and providing guidance and advice to facilitate resolutions to work issues. Fosters partnerships and establishes systems that ensure seamless client flow.
- Recruit, hire, and supervise staff by identifying vacancies, interviewing applicants, and making hiring decisions in collaboration with nursing, physician and professional practice leaders as needed; and ensures clarification of roles, adherence to accreditation and practice standards, and safe delivery of care.
- Implement effective performance management processes in an interdisciplinary team environment. Ensure probationary and annual reviews are completed for program staff; investigates work and staff issues, and where necessary initiates disciplinary action up to and including termination. Participate in labour relations, including the grievance process. Monitor requests for overtime, vacation, leaves of absences, and sick time.
- Create an environment that encourages participation in research, evidence - based practice, fosters personal growth and supports opportunities for learning and teaching for students and staff.
What you bring
Qualifications:
- A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in a healthcare related field from an accredited University, a Master's degree is preferred, plus a minimum of seven to ten (7-10) years recent related clinical experience that includes two (2) years working in a managerial/leadership capacity. Current registration/membership with appropriate professional college if applicable is preferred.

- Demonstrated basic computer literacy with word processing, spreadsheet and/or database programs and ability to utilize a computerized patient care information system.
- Have commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
- Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
