JOB TITLE: Life Skills Worker | #1929
SERVICE AREA: Vocational & Community Services
LOCATION: Vancouver, BC
START DATE: October 21, 2024
TERM/STATUS: Permanent Full Time
SCHEDULE/HRS: Flex-time // 37.5 hours weekly
HOURLY WAGE: $28.25 as per collective agreement
THE ROLE:
As a Life Skills Worker, you are assisting individuals with developmental disabilities live independently in their own homes. The hours are flexible as you are working around your clients’ schedule. The Community Apartment Program (CAP) has a team of Life Skills workers that have a caseload of clients. We also plan special events and trips for our clients to attend.
Education & Experience:
- Degree or Diploma in area directly related to supporting people with developmental disabilities such as Social Services.
- 2 years’ experience working with people who deal with concurrent disorders.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully implement instructional and proactive training programs for clients.
- Experience with principles of positive behaviour management is desirable.
- An open-minded attitude, ability to relate to participants, work unsupervised, and generate/monitor workload.
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends.
REQUIREMENTS:
Standard requirements of the Life Skills Worker include:
- Criminal Record Clearance
- Medical Clearance
- Satisfactory Driver’s Abstract
- Class 5 Driver’s License and Class 4 Unrestricted Driver’s License
- Valid First Aid/CPR
- Non-violent Crisis Intervention Certification
- Demonstrated competency in English written and verbal communication
- Basic computer literacy
- Eligible to work in Canada
