Position Summary
Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Licensed Practical Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at Fort Nelson Health Unit.

In accordance with established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as well as within a patient and family centered care model. The LPN, as part of the multidisciplinary team, provides care to persons experiencing substance use and mental health disorders. The LPN performs assessments, plan, implements and provided personal and nursing care under the direction of the Program Lead (or designate) or RN/RPN.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Monday to Friday, Days, 08:00 to 16:30

Fort Nelson is located in the northernmost reaches of the Rocky Mountains, has magnificent scenery and landscapes. The main industries are forestry, natural gas, transportation and tourism. The population is approximately 3,370. There are now three elementary schools and one secondary school. Fort Nelson is a charming and friendly community with genuine personality. The importance of the Alaska Highway is immediately evident and the town itself is built around the highway, with the museum, gas stations, shopping, restaurants, accommodations and services spread along its route. Qualfications
• Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• Valid BC Driver's License.

Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to complete initial and ongoing assessments (clinical and diagnostic reasoning) and provide nursing care through appropriate / prescribed technical, therapeutic, safety type interventions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the clients, families, the public, medical staff, and the members of the interdisciplinary team using verbal, written and computer communication means.
• Ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve effectively.
• Ability to promote client-focused care that demonstrates care for and with clients and significant others, sensitive to diverse cultures and preferences, client advocacy and social justice concerns.
• Ability to transmit information intended to instruct clients and others about topics essential to health care and well-being.
• Manages time and resources, implementing activities to promote cooperation among relevant others, collaboration across disciplines and related activities.
• Promotes staff morale, cooperation, assertiveness and risk-taking, creative planning for change and innovations, implementation of NH policies or other protocols, and ongoing professional development of self.
• Using factual information, prior learning and basic principles and procedures to support decisions and actions with relevant research-based evidence. Integrates best practice from nursing and health-related disciplines and the humanities, arts, and sciences disciplines into professional practice.
• Ability to operate related equipment including relevant computer applications.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
