Reporting to the Manager, Health and Safety, the Health & Safety Coordinator will be accountable for supporting the administration and coordination of legacy safety programs. This position will be dedicated to being a resource for Legacy Properties, passionate about ensuring the Health and Safety of employees and contractors. The Legacy Properties team manages closed mine sites across multiple jurisdictions and countries.
To be successful in this role, we seek a self-motivated individual who can multi-task, stay organized, and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic work setting. To excel in this position, the person will have excellent attention to detail, strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, and a passion for partnering with maintenance and operations on safety initiatives and programs. They will have superior interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to flex from coaching and influencing towards a shared goal in complex and high-risk environments to stopping work and driving change if required.

Salary Range: $82,000 - $101,000
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.

Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader, and adhere to and sponsor safety rules and procedures
- Promote a proactive health and safety environment among team members
- Provide site support for 7 legacy sites across Canada and the US
- Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) feedback on contractor scopes of work and safe work plans upon request from the Project Manager
- Participate in site and project risk assessments
- Participate in assurance program activities
- Assist with incident reporting and investigations as required
- Build and maintain, as required, site-specific health and safety program documents, e.g. traffic management plans, orientations, etc.
- Provide SME support to the Legacy Emergency Response Coordinator on emergency response programming
- Provide support during emergency response situations
- Perform critical control field verifications
- Support Project Managers during project kick-off meetings, providing infield health and safety mentor
- Apply continuous improvement processes and systems to contribute to performance improvements
- Ensure accurate record-keeping using various software, including SiteLine and Isometrix
- Contribute to awareness initiatives and educational program
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience required. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field preferred
- A minimum 2 years of health and safety experience in an industrial setting required
- Completion or enrolment in an Occupational Health and Safety program would be an asset
- Strong digital literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite® package: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Strong interpersonal , leadership, planning and communication skills, and the ability to speak in front of groups
- Able to work in Canada and the US required
- Class 5 Driver's License with no restrictions required
- Advanced First Aid Certifications (Level 3) are preferred
- Mine Rescue Certification is an asset
