Firewall Administrator
Burnaby, BC
The Firewall Administrator will manage and maintain our firewall infrastructure to ensure the security of our network. You will be responsible for configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting firewall systems, as well as implementing security policies and best practices to protect against threats, as well as collaborate with vendors to ensure documentation and compliance alignment.

A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a university degree or technical diploma in a Computer Science program, plus related certifications, and at least four (4) years of recent experience implementing / supporting firewall rules, active directory, and DNS in a large, complex corporate environment with multiple data centres.

Job Type: Casual full-time hours (37.5 hours per week)
Wage: $39.00 - $51.00/hour - as a casual employee, total earnings include an additional 13% in lieu of benefits and paid vacation. The rate for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate's relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan
Location: Burnaby, V5C6E3
Hours of Work: Monday - Friday (37.5 hours per week)

The Firewall Administrator will manage and maintain our firewall infrastructure to ensure the security of our network. What you'll do
- Configure, implement, and maintain firewalls and related security appliances to change firewall, proxy IDS/IPS rules
- Continuously monitor firewall logs and alerts to identify and respond to security incidents, generating regular reports on firewall performance and security status.
- Develop and implement firewall policies and rules based on industry best practices and organizational requirements.
- Participate in incident response activities, analyzing and resolving security breaches and vulnerabilities related to firewalls.
- Work with customers and vendors to troubleshoot project related firewall, proxy and IDS/IPS issues
- Maintain up-to-date documentation of firewall configurations, policies, and procedures.
What you bring
Qualifications

- Strong understanding of logical network and firewalling principles
- Strong operational knowledge of Fortinet/Palo Alto/Cisco Firewalls, F5 LTM, and Microsoft ISA/TMG
- Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills
- Self-directed, highly motivated, and results-oriented
- Good communication, customer interaction, and organizational skills
- Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects and multi-task
- Team player with well-developed interpersonal skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office
- CCNA or equivalent certification is preferred

- As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have: Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
