Position Summary

The Director, Access and Flow (the Director) is responsible for developing and overseeing Northern Health's services, transition practices, planning processes, management systems, logistics and operations related to Access & Flow. Leading a team of diverse leaders and subject matter experts, the Director will proactively partner and collaborate with clinical and Medical Leaders to develop a health authority wide network of supports and mechanisms for the portfolio, balancing the effective efficiencies of regional policies and practice standards with facility, program, and community- specific needs. The Director stimulates and supports quality improvement and change management through the use of data, information, Evidence-Informed-Practice guidelines, Provincial and Northern Health goals, policy and research to inform service development and implement region wide change. The Director supports the Executive Director in preparing for Northern Health's participation at regional and provincial tables and develops collaborations and partnerships with external organizations, counterparts in other health authorities, and associations involved in the development of access and flow services in BC. The Director supports quality patient care and a positive patient/family experience by building an access and flow system to support a care provision model that ensures that the right patient is in the right place at the right time. The Director leads the team that provides expertise, guidance and support to the operational teams, ensuring escalation processes are in place to address barriers to equitable access to services across the continuum of care.

Starting salary will be approximately from $128,298 to $160,372 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.

Qualfications
• Master's degree in a relevant clinical field, plus at least seven (7) years of experience, including 3 years progressively senior responsibility for the development, implementation and evaluation of complex service delivery systems, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

• Superior capacity for logistics management - ability to assess, plan and optimize flows within a human services context.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, family, the public, clinical staff, and internal/external collegial groups.
• Ability to foster an environment that values patient and family-centered care.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, teach and manage change in a multi-disciplinary setting and to guide others toward the goals of a patient transfer and flow service from a regional lens with a commitment to excellence in the provision of patient care.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
• Ability to create, monitor and analyze key performance indicators with continuous quality improvement skills.
• Ability to plan, prioritize and carry out projects in a timely manner.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure with changing priorities and deadlines; ability to resolve conflict.
• Demonstrated knowledge of budget planning and preparation principles, concepts and methods.
• Demonstrated knowledge of research methodology, practices and techniques with excellent investigative, analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to operate related equipment included related software applications (i.e. Windows, Excel).
• Ability and willingness to travel as required.
• BC Driver's license.
