  • What's the job?
    The Data Governance Analyst implements data governance processes and policies to ensure our data is secure, protected, accurate, available, searchable and useable. You will work with the data management and IT data custodians to develop internal data rules and guidelines to deliver consistent and trustworthy data. They coach and work closely with business data stewards to develop strong data literacy practices, including data ownership, business glossary, data quality rules, and data usage with defined purpose and intent. The Data Governance Analyst's key purpose is to enhance the organization's data reliability and quality to support decision-making and protect our organization from data-related risks throughout its lifecycle.

    What you'll get to do:
  • Supports the Manager, Data Governance in building out a robust and non-invasive Data Governance practice
  • Coaches and supports the business and technical data stewards in clarifying data definitions, outlining the appropriate uses for data, organizing and classifying data and managing metadata to recommend proper data usage and compliance.
  • Acquires deep understanding of both the business needs and the related data structures to drive recommendations on appropriate uses for data
  • Delivers clear communication of governance principles to both technical and non-technical audiences, including writing content for our data governance website, creating presentation materials on data governance subjects, designing process flow charts to simplify data governance process and procedures
  • Facilitates the implementation of data quality guidelines and processes and develops controls and metrics to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and validity. Create data quality scoreboard to report and monitor overall health of the data.
  • Collaborates with data custodians and data stewards to manage data lifecycle, address data issues and support data-related decision-making
  • Provides training and guidance to employees on data governance practices, tools and guidelines
  • Develops a data literacy program designed to train employees and teams to understand, interpret and utilize data effectively, enabling a culture of data accountability through learning and understanding the rules and guidelines from data collection, storing, transforming, analyzing, reporting and designing data models and applications.

  • Who are we looking for?
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Science/Computer Science/Mathematics/Analytics or equivalent in a related field.
  • Additional information: working knowledge and experience with data governance tools and applications.
  • 4-6 years of experience in data governance with a proven track record of implementing data governance frameworks and best practices. Familiarity with regulations and standards related to data privacy, data classification and data quality is essential. Proven track record in designing and creating data governance processes that address regulatory requirements. Applicable knowledge of data governance best practices, business and technology issues related to the management of enterprise information assets
  • 2-3 years of working proficiency with a data governance tool (Informatica, Collibra, Alation, or similar tools) to create business glossary, data profiling and data quality analysis, data catalogue, data mapping and lineage.
  • 4+ years of strong ability to analyze data quality issues using SQL or similar data querying language. Proficient ability to create actionable data quality insight, reports and scorecards. Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data, processes, and procedures and effectively raise business risks associated with data quality or non-compliance issues.
  • Strong planning, tracking, and project management skills. Experience preparing accurate and detailed requirement specification documents. Proven track record in leading cross-functional and cross-divisional projects. Attention to detail, sense of urgency and commitment to deadlines.
