Job Summary

The Team
The Salmon Arm Court Registry is an established team of four professionals dedicated to supporting the judicial system at both the Provincial and Supreme Court levels. This team works closely with Court Clerks, Registry Technicians, Justices of the Peace, and supervisory staff to deliver court services and ensure access to justice for everyone in the community. Known for their collaborative and inclusive approach, the team values accuracy, service excellence, and fostering a supportive workplace where everyone feels respected and empowered.

The Role
As a Court/Registry Clerk, you will provide vital administrative support to both the Supreme and Provincial Courts, helping ensure efficient and fair court processes. Your responsibilities include preparing courtrooms, managing exhibits, maintaining accurate files, and using technology to streamline case tracking systems. By improving the court experience for citizens through efficient processes and exceptional service, you'll have a direct impact on the community. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the justice system while working in a supportive, inclusive environment focused on teamwork and collaboration.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent (e.g. GED).
  • Two years recent office experience in a professional setting; OR
  • A combination of two (2) years in the following:
    • Recent legal office experience and education or training in a legal related field.
  • Must have experience keyboarding a minimum of 40 WPM.
  • Experience entering data into computerized systems.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
  • Experience with standard computer applications (e.g. MS Word, Excel).
  • Experience using CCD, JUSTIN, and/or CEIS.
  • Experience working in a court registry.
  • Experience working as a Court Clerk.

Provisos:
  • Travel may be required.
  • May be required to work varied shifts and overtime on short notice.

About this Position:
This position is part time (0.5 FTE, 35 hours biweekly).
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
