Position Summary

Aligned with Northern Health's strategic plan, and in accordance with the organizations' vision and values, the Coordinator, Site Safety works with designated Operation Leaders collaboratively and proactively to plan for facility specific safety program activities and monitor metrics for compliance and outcomes. The Coordinator proactively participates in the coordination and implementation of health and safety actions and initiatives at designated Northern Health sites. The incumbent is responsible for assisting the operational manager(s) in meeting organizational objectives, in addition to maintaining compliance with OH&S standards and regulations. The Coordinator enhances partnerships with key stakeholders at a variety of levels to ensure that deliverables and targets are met. This position will provide ongoing assistance to senior operational leadership teams (as designated) and liaises with site leadership staff and physicians.

Starting salary will be approximately from $67,861 to $84,826 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.

Chetwynd General Hospital has 7 Long-term beds and 5 Acute Care beds. Services include emergency, medical inpatient, palliative care, and respiratory therapy.

Chetwynd lies in the foothills of the Eastern slope of the Rocky Mountains and is the natural transportation hub of the Peace River Country. The area is rich in oil, gas and timber and the local resources and manufacturing industries reflect these assets. Other major industries in the area are ranching, tourism, mining, and the service sector. The population of Chetwynd is 3,100, with a trading area of 7,000. There are three elementary schools, one Montessori school, one secondary school and a Northern Lights College campus. Qualfications
• Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety or a related discipline plus three (3) years of progressive health and safety experience in a large, unionized organization, preferably in a health care environment.

Skills and Abilities:
• Demonstrated knowledge of current health and safety legislation, regulations and statutes
• Knowledge of OH&S best practices and trends
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Ability to effectively organize, prioritize and delegate work to meet deadlines.
• Interpersonal skills to provide effective coordination and guidance.
