Job Summary:

The Centre for Experiential and Career Education invites applications for the position of Coordinator, Co-operative Education, (permanent, full-time).

The Coordinator assists in the development, delivery, and evaluation of activities required for the effective operation and development of the Centre.

The incumbent:

  • actively participates in student recruitment and maintains communication with all parties involved in the co-op education process;  
  • are responsible for co-op student work terms in appropriate training related jobs in industry, evaluation of students’ co-op accomplishments, and academic development of co-op education programs; and
  • employer solicitation and relationship development and liaises with various internal and external related groups.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution; supplemented with courses/training in career development topics.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of work experience in a service-oriented environment or (3) years’ experience participating in career development activities; ideally in a post- secondary setting.
  • Experience in building effective relationships with students, faculty, employers, and community stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders. Understanding of University missions and processes.
  • Good working knowledge of academic programs.
  • Good working knowledge of the Co-operative Education program. Strong working knowledge of the British Columbia labour market.
  • The ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing inside and outside of the organization.
  • The ability to exercise good judgement.
  • The ability to solve problems in accordance with institutional policies. Ability to exercise care and support to a diverse student body.
  • Strong project management and time management skills.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office. Some experience using Terminal 4, FAST, Banner, and Symplicity is an asset.
  • The ability to deliver effective presentations and workshops.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and ability to multi-task in a fast- paced environment.
  • This position requires work at multiple campus locations (Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Mission, and Hope), and working flexible hours including evenings and weekends, access to personal and reliable transportation is required.
