Organizational Profile
New Westminster Police Department recognizes and respects that New Westminster is on the unceded and unsurrendered land of the Halkomelem speaking peoples. The Department acknowledges that colonialism has made invisible their histories and connections to the land. As a police department, New Westminster is learning and building relationships with the people whose lands we are on.
Founded in 1873, celebrating a recent 150th anniversary, the Department provides policing services for a growing community of over 88,000 people, under the civilian oversight of the New Westminster Police Board. The Department is an active and dynamic police force of over one hundred members, supported by an incredible team of dedicated civilian staff, reserve constables, and volunteers.
The New Westminster Police Department serves everyone in our community with integrity, excellence, and compassion.
