This is a full time position at 40 hours per week based at the Maple Ridge WorkBC office between Monday and Friday between 8:30am and 6:30pm (Wednesday & Thursdays).

The Role
Representing Douglas College at the Maple Ridge WorkBC Centres, the Career Coach will work closely with job seekers to assess service suitability, develop, and implement a plan of action to achieve sustainable employment. Career Coaches identify client needs and refer clients to suitable WorkBC interventions such as Occupational Skills Training, Employment Workshops and so on. While this position focuses on Youth, the Career Coach will serve all client types including multi- barriered populations.

Responsibilities

Individual Support:

    •Identify and address Client employment needs;
    •Determine eligibility for financial supports and services;
    •Provide the Client with WorkBC Employment Services tailored to their individual needs;
    •Develop realistic, employment action plan that leads to sustainable employment or further education and training;
    •Make regular contact to coach, support and motivate and support Client and ensure progression towards sustainable employment and make adjustments as needed;
    •Post program follow up to support job maintenance and ongoing career development; and
    •Refer Client to community supports as needed.

Administration:

    •Monitor client progress and maintain records in ICM ;
    •Oversee distribution and tracking of Participant Financial Supports;
    •Complete reports as required by the project agreement and submit to CCSP ; and
    •Review monthly targets with the Centre Manager to ensure that they are providing the right services at the right time for Clients.


Team Responsibilities:

    •Participate in regular team meetings, case conferencing, strategic planning and program review sessions as scheduled;
    •Foster collaborative working relationships and contribute to a positive work environment based on mutual respect; and
    •Provide coverage in the drop in Employment Resource area and for other staff as required.
Quality Assurance:

    •Contribute to a continuous improvement work environment; and
    •Work to Training Group's Quality Management System, ISO9001:2015 standard.
To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need

    •Post-Secondary degree, or equivalent level of knowledge and experience in employment services, social services or other related area or combination of suitable work experience and education;
    •Experience in employment service delivery;
    • CCDP Certified Career Development Practitioner designation preferred;
    •Demonstrated ability to conduct a Client needs analysis;
    •Awareness of barriers to employment for vulnerable populations;
    •Knowledge and ability to interact effective to demonstrate Inclusion, Equity, Diversity in the workplace with Clients, Colleagues and Community Partners;
    •Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills;
    •Strong computer skills; MS Office Suite, database entry and the use of online-demand meeting applications and desk-top sharing;
    •Knowledge of local labour market and labour market trends;
    •Knowledge and awareness of WorkBC systems, processes and financial model an asset;
    •Satisfactory completion of a vulnerable persons criminal records check. A criminal record will not automatically result in your application for employment being denied.

Experience in the following preferred:

    •Providing excellent customer service while delivering in person and virtual services;
    •Conducting & interpreting client needs assessments;
    •Working with individuals with complex barriers and a wide range of cultural backgrounds.
Preferred but not essential Certifications:

    • MBTI certificate;
    •Personality Dimensions.
