About the OpportunityCafe Guido is looking for a full-time Cafe Manager based in Port Hardy, British Columbia.
As Cafe Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the cafe, reporting directly to the General Manager, and ensuring smooth, efficient service and customer satisfaction.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Managing daily cafe operations, including opening and closing procedures, inventory, and staff scheduling
- Hiring, training, and supervising cafe staff to uphold high standards of customer service and safety
- Planning and conducting staff training sessions and competency sign-offs
- Implementing strategies to increase revenue through promotions and special events
- Maintaining stock levels and minimizing waste, ensuring quality control of incoming supplies
- Overseeing financial performance, tracking expenses, revenue, and cash handling
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and food handling regulations
- Fostering a positive, inclusive environment that promotes teamwork and collaboration

About YouTo qualify, you will need a leadership background in a management or supervisory role, ideally within a fast-paced food and beverage environment; however, retail management experience is also welcome. Alternatively, candidates with 2+ years in a food and beverage setting who are ready to take a step up and can demonstrate proven skills in team leadership and cafe management are encouraged to apply.
- Experience leading a small team and fostering a collaborative work environment
- Strong knowledge of health and safety standards and food handling practices
- Proven ability to handle cash and manage financial transactions accurately
- Skill in managing inventory, ordering supplies, and minimizing waste
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Suite for scheduling and administrative tasks
- Ability to lead by example in customer service and barista skills
- Willingness and flexibility to carry out any cafe maintenance and cleaning tasks
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities
- Adaptability to take on a hands-on role, working alongside the team
