Job Summary

The Team:

The Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch (GPEB) regulates all gambling in British Columbia. This position is pivotal in upholding standards, maintaining public confidence, ensuring the integrity of gaming, and fair play across the industry. Within the Compliance Division, the Audit Team consists of 19 employees located at 4 offices throughout the province. The Audit Team is currently seeking to fill a vacancy in its modern Burnaby office. In this position you will work with management and alongside eight auditors to complete a wide variety of interesting and meaningful audits, analysis, and projects. With the size of our team, we are able to generally provide staff with work and projects that meet their interests, skill sets or development needs. The Role:

Gambling Auditors conduct various types of audits throughout the gambling industry, allowing them to utilize their compliance, operational, financial and information system auditing knowledge, experience, and techniques. Working under powers granted by the BC Gaming Control Act and Regulation, Gambling Auditors complete audits of commercial gambling conducted and managed by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) (e.g. lotteries, casinos, online gambling on PlayNow.com), and licensed charitable organizations and gambling events. Gambling Auditors holding the CISA certification may perform a wide range of complex IT audits and reviews of major information systems at BCLC, service providers, charitable organizations, and events to ensure they are aligned with generally accepted IT control frameworks. Gambling Auditors may also be assigned work conducting financial integrity analysis of registrants, AML focused projects, addressing complaints from the public, assisting Investigators on potential fraud cases, and working on projects that support other areas of the Branch.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) certification, in good standing; and/or
  • Professional accounting designation CPA - CA, CGA, CMA, issued by a Canadian Accounting Association, in good standing.

Note: If your designation was obtained from outside of Canada, you will need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through an applicable Canadian Accounting Association.
  • Minimum of 3 years' recent experience performing audits and compliance reviews.
  • Recent experience developing and implementing project and/or audit plans.
  • Recent experience developing audit programs and assessing risk.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence.

  • Travel within BC and working extended hours and possibly weekends are a requirement.
  • Use of own vehicle on expenses is required.

About this Position:
This position is based out of Burnaby.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 4 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill both current and/or future permanent vacancies.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
This position is excluded from union membership.
