Ways to Motivate Yourself to Work Hard This Year

By

You can love your job, the work environment, the exhilaration of finishing a project, and still have days where you have no energy. You worked so hard to find your ideal job with BCJobs, but somehow, happiness still seems to elude you.

There’s no need to worry. This happens to everyone, and by implementing some small strategies, you can keep the stress at bay. So let’s help you find your motivation again and make this year a good one.

Set Up Small Goals

Small goals act as a stepping stone for bigger purposes. You know this- that’s how you landed your job- but a reminder is always good. You have a position you want to achieve with your dream job. To do so, you need to feel the adrenaline that comes with accomplishing small goals first. For every small purpose you achieve, you know you’re closer to achieving the big one, and that keeps you motivated.

Allocate Yourself Breaks

A big reason the motivation you initially felt has waned is that you’ve been working too much. If you’re on a 9 to 5 job, well, you are working 8 hours anyway. On the other hand, if you’re the type to bring work home, answer emails, and get on zoom calls, you probably spend every waking hour working.

You have to make the firm decision to stop. You have to decide on a time of the day where you won’t work; think about it and don’t allow yourself to be pulled into work-related phone calls. Then, when you do get back to work, you will be excited to finish what was pending. If your brain doesn’t get the time to cool off, you will never feel that sense of energy.

Take Care Of Your Health

Sometimes, the exhaustion from your body could seep into your mental state. All the motivation in the world can’t make a tired body do what it wants to. You have to get a generous amount of sleep, eat well, and have time to yourself when you dodo only relaxing activities.

Additionally, you want to add exercise to your daily routine. When you feel physically fit, so will your mind.

Reward System

Is there something you want? Perhaps a cup of hot chocolate at this moment? Hold it off. Wait and complete a menial work-related task. Do something that you will otherwise put off and seems to drain your energy generally. Then, once you finish the task, get that hot chocolate. When you know you have something nice waiting for you after finishing a tedious job, even the charge that has nothing to do with energy becomes motivating.

Frequent Reminders

There’s a reason this job is your dream job. Or there is a reason you are doing the current job to reach your dream job. You started on this path because of something, because of some connecting you felt. Maybe you like painting or crunching numbers; whatever it is, it makes you feel something. So every time you think too uninspired, remind yourself why you started. Remind yourself of the joy you initially gained from it.

It’s sure to bring the love for it back.

Final Thoughts

Your motivation will come back to you tenfold every time you achieve something. If you achieve your big goal, you will find yourself setting up a new one in no time. That’s human nature. You feel this momentary lack of inspiration won’t last forever; you only need to find small ways to make it go away faster.
